The 7 Main Energy Centers in Our Body

Mar 29, 2021

Quantum physics and String Theory have derived that which we perceive as physical matter but is actually composed of strings of energy. What we measure as molecules are actually fast-moving energy strings. “The closer science looks at matter, the more it looks like pure energy.” – Dawson Church, Ph.D., the award-winning author of the bestselling book, The Genie in Your Genes.
Why is it important to know that you are literally not the same person you are a day ago? Because your cells regenerate in an energy field that bathes our bodies. The type of energy in which cell regeneration takes place determines the biological outcomes of the cells. Strong radiation, such as that which is released in a nuclear reactor disaster can damage our cells and cause them to mutate. But if our cells are bathed in the energy of love, appreciation, and kindness created by a coherent brain then just the opposite happens.
Spontaneous remissions of serious diseases happen more often than we think. Several studies have found that more patients reported having remissions then estimated. A study by Zahl, Maehlen, and Welch found that one out of every five breast cancers are healed by the mind and body without the need for medical interventions. This is in line with what Physicist Niels Bohr said, “If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet.”

Your Body’s Electromagnetic Fields

We are all connected.

When we feel connected, we feel less stress and we are able to break through to greater levels of personal balance, stability, and creativity. It’s our intuition that guides us and leads us to insights and ultimately, our fulfillment in life. Though for many of us, the job, the busyness, and the mundane problems distract us and prevent us from having the balanced and connected lives that we are born to have.

You are an energetic body.

You are energy in motion. You are an extension of the source of energy. You are e=mc2 and therefore, you are energy. You are a seed of infinite possibility! Each of us are made up of layers of vibrating energy, each of which has their own specific vibration and purpose.
The physical body consists of energy that vibrates very slowly, which is why it appears to our physical eyes to be solid. This has led us to focus mainly on the physical aspect of ourselves without recognizing that it is actually created from and sustained by the energetic layers that are outside of our normal perception.
The most common form of energy that we have heard about are the chakra system, also known as energy centers. Our chakras are subtle energy points, literally wheels or vortexes of energy. They act as energy gateways or energy exchange points. We have several hundred of these energy exchange points within our energetic systems, but the most well-known ones are the seven which are connected into the spinal column and head.

The Seven Main Chakras

The seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body. You've probably heard people talk about "unblocking" their chakras, which refers to the idea that when all of our chakras are open, energy can run through them freely, and harmony exists between the physical body, mind, and spirit. Chakra translates to "wheel" in Sanskrit, and you can imagine them like wheels of free-flowing positive energy. If they are clogged or “blocked”, the wheel can’t spin as freely as it needs too.

  1. Root Chakra

The root chakra represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded. When the root chakra is open, we feel confident in our ability to withstand challenges and stand on our own two feet. When it's blocked we feel threatened, as if we're standing on unstable ground.

  • Location:  Base of spine, in tailbone area
  • What it controls:  Survival issues such as financial independence, money, and food
  • Mantra:  "I can't grow from an unsteady foundation."
  • Color:  Red
  • Element:  Earth
  • Stone:  Hematite
  • When it develops: 1-7 years of age
  1. Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra helps inform how we relate to our emotions and the emotions of others. It also governs creativity and sexual energy. Those with a blocked sacral chakra often feel a lack of control in their lives.

  • Location:  Lower abdomen, about 2 inches below the navel
  • What it controls:  Your sense of abundance, well-being, pleasure, and sexuality
  • Mantra: "I always honor others but not before myself."
  • Color:  Orange
  • Element:  Water
  • Stone:  Tiger's Eye
  • When it develops:  8-14 years of age
  1. Solar Plexus Chakra

The third chakra, the solar plexus chakra, speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life. Think back to the last time you had butterflies or felt a pit in the stomach. If your solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might feel overwhelming amounts of shame and self-doubt. Those with open sacral chakras are free to express their true selves without fear of doing so.

  • Location:  Upper abdomen in the stomach area
  • What it controls:  Self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem
  • Mantra:  "Self-love starts when I accept all parts of myself."
  • Color:  Yellow
  • Element:  Fire
  • Stone:  Amber
  • When it develops: 15-21 years of age
  1. Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper chakras (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love — from others and ourselves. Someone with a blocked heart chakra will have difficulty fully opening up to the people in their life. If someone's heart is open, they can experience deep compassion and empathy.

  • Location:  Center of chest, just above the heart
  • What it controls:  Love, joy, and inner peace
  • Mantra:  "When I love myself, loving others comes easily."
  • Color:  Green
  • Element:  Air
  • Stone:  Rose Quartz
  • When it develops: 21-28 years of age
  1. Throat Chakra

The throat chakra gives voice to the heart chakra and controls our ability to communicate our personal power. When it's functioning at full capacity, it allows us to express ourselves truly and clearly. Someone with a blocked throat chakra will feel like they are having trouble finding the words to say for how they truly feel.

  • Location: Throat
  • What it controls:  Communication, self-expression, and truth
  • Mantra:  "I speak my truth, always."
  • Color:  Light Blue/Turquoise
  • Element:  Sound/Music
  • Stone:  Aquamarine
  • When it develops: 29-35 years of age
  1. Third-Eye Chakra

As we move up the body, we're getting closer to communion with the divine. The third eye chakra controls our ability to see the big picture and connects us to divine intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul because it registers information beyond the surface level. Visions and intuitive hits are not uncommon for someone with an open third-eye chakra.

  • Location:  Forehead between the eyes (also called the Brow Chakra)
  • What it controls:  Intuition, imagination, and wisdom
  • Mantra:  "I am open to exploring what cannot be seen."
  • Color:  Dark Blue/Purple
  • Element:  Light
  • Stone:  Amethyst
  • When it develops:  36-42 years of age
  1. Crown Chakra

The crown chakra, the highest chakra, sits at the crown of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. When you fully open your crown chakra — something very few people ever do! — you're able to access a higher consciousness.

  • Location:  The very top of the head
  • What it controls:  Inner and outer beauty, spiritual connection
  • Lesson:  "I am a vessel for love and light."
  • Color:  Violet/White
  • Element:  Divine Consciousness
  • Stone:  Clear quartz
  • When it develops: 43-49 years of age

With these main chakras, as well as the other energy centers, they can become blocked and their functions will suffer for it. The connection between the etheric and the physical bodies is so deep that these blockages can heavily impact how we feel, some even suggest that our health is at risk when this happens. Some signs of energy blocks are depression, fatigue, excessive worries, uncontrollable anger, resentment, appetite changes, and excessive spending. If you haven’t been maintaining and improving your etheric body, then you might need to consider clearing before you can move on.
Blockages can be caused by anything that would typically harm the physical body. This could include a poor diet, lack of sleep, poor air quality, and of course, stress. A lack of exercise will also lead to blockages as exercise is considered to be energetically cleansing. Reiki treatments and meditations can also help you clear the blocked energy centers. It’s important to clear these blockages so that they don’t start to impair other energy centers or chakras.
You should also be aware that blockages can also be caused by the different types of energy your come across during your day and night. If you spend time in negative places with negative people, your body will pick up that energy and in turn, this will cause imbalances. Being anxious or having negative thoughts also can adversely affects the health of your chakras.

When your energy centers, or chakras, are functioning properly they act as gateways for the vital life force energy to enter your physical body while at the same time providing an exit point for lower frequency energies to be released back into the universe for transmutation. Your physical body is dependent upon this vital energy flow to maintain optimum health and wellbeing. Long held negative states, negative thought patterns, and emotions can block your chakras. Letting go of these negative habits and patterns can significantly improve your energetic health. When you’re starting to feel off, think about the triad of health and how as triangle isn’t stable unless all three sides are stable. That is why it is so vitally important to take care of your mind, body, and soul so you too can have a long lasting life.
